Every Can Counts - Bryson Recycling Supports Local Children’s Charity

Bryson Recycling is proud to support the Eilish Degnan Children’s Foundation, a local charity that raises funds for children suffering from life-limiting illnesses and their families through recycling aluminium cans.
In memory of his parents, Eilish and John Degnan, both of whom sadly passed away from cancer, Gerald Degnan (BEM) established the foundation as a lasting tribute to their lives and values, wanting to honour their memory by bringing joy and relief to children facing serious health challenges.
To assist Gerald in his efforts, Bryson Recycling has donated 10 wheelie bins to help facilitate the collection of aluminium drinks cans from members of the public, local businesses, schools and social clubs. These bins will be distributed to groups and individuals who regularly gather cans, which Gerald then brings to Bryson Recycling for recycling through their Cash for Cans programme. The proceeds made are donated directly to the foundation which uses them to support various projects for The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, including day trips, holidays, and special experiences for young patients and their families. At Christmas and Easter the foundation delivers large numbers of presents for both patients and staff.
Claire McCallum, Bryson Recycling, said “We are delighted to be able to support Gerald who has been a regular visitor to our Mallusk site for many years. Through his hard work he is not only promoting recycling and helping the environment but also providing vital funding to children and families when they need it most”.
Gerald Degnan (BEM) commented: “The foundation really appreciates the help of Bryson Recycling, the funds raised through their “Cash for Cans” scheme supports our work at The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children throughout the year”
Bryson Recycling encourages everyone to get involved by saving their aluminium drinks cans and supporting Gerald’s collection efforts. Every can counts - and every donation helps bring a smile to a child in need.
