Recycling Collection Safety

Please follow these simple guidelines to ensure that we keep everyone safe during recycling collections.

Batteries

We are unable to collect household batteries through our recycling collection service.

When batteries are collected mixed with other recycling they can combust during the collection and recycling process, which can result in a fire.

You can dispose of household batteries at your local Council Household Recycling Centre. There are also collection points available in many supermarkets and shops.

Gas Canisters

Do not put gas canisters in your recycling container at home, as they also pose a fire risk in our collection vehicles and at our recycling plant.

All gas canisters should be taken to your local Council Household Recycling Centre where they can be disposed of safely.

Vapes

Never put vapes in your recycling container at home as they can ignite when crushed in our vehicles and at our plant.

You can dispose of vapes at your local Council Household Recycling Centre. There are also collection points available in many supermarkets and shops.

Aerosols

Aerosols can be recycled through our collection service. Please ensure that they are empty to reduce risk of explosions during processing.

Glass

Glass can be collected through our recycling collection service. Please ensure it is placed in your recycling container - never put glass in an overflow bag.

Please Park Considerately

When you park your car please leave our collection vehicle plenty of space to drive down. This helps us ensure that we can collect recycling from every household on your street.

Cwestiynau Cyffredin

Pam nad yw’r bin wedi cael ei wagio?

Os ydych wedi talu eich tanysgrifiad blynyddol, rydych wedi gosod sticer taliad ar eich bin ond nid yw wedi cael ei wagio, rhowch wybod i ni yma. Bydd aelod o staff yn cysylltu â chi ynglyn â’ch casgliad. Os nad ydych wedi cofrestru i dderbyn casgliadau gwastraff gardd ar gyfer y cyfnod tanysgrifio blynyddol cyfredol yna gallwch wneud hynny yma.

Ai taliad unwaith ac am byth yw hwn?  Na, bydd angen i chi dalu bob blwyddyn am eich gwasanaeth casglu. Byddwn yn codi tâl am bob bin sy’n cael ei gasglu.

Pam mae pris y gwasanaeth yn codi ym mis Ebrill 2025?

Bydd codiad o £2 yng nghost y gwasanaeth casglu gwastraff gardd eleni, o £40 i £42. Mae hyn oherwydd chwyddiant a’r cynnydd mewn costau gweithredu i ddarparu’r gwasanaeth.

Bydd y cynnydd yn gymwys i’r bin cyntaf a archebir yn unig. Bydd cost unrhyw finiau ychwanegol yn aros yr un peth, sef £20 yr un.

A fydd y tâl tanysgrifio yn llai os byddaf yn ymuno â’r cynllun yn hwyrach yn y flwyddyn? Na fydd, bydd y tâl yr un fath ni waeth pryd byddwch yn tanysgrifio.
A oes modd i mi dalu am gasgliad untro yn unig? Nac oes, dim ond tanysgrifiad blwyddyn rydym yn ei gynnig. Gallwch ddechrau eich tanysgrifiad ar unrhyw adeg ond byddwch yn talu am y flwyddyn gyfan.
Ga’ i roi bag leinin yn y bin i’w gadw’n lân neu roi bagiau sy’n cynnwys gwastraff gardd yn y bin? Na chewch, rhaid i’r gwastraff gardd gael ei roi yn rhydd yn y bin. Os gwelwch yn dda, peidiwch â rhoi unrhyw fagiau yn y bin.

Ydych chi'n derbyn cardiau American Express (AMEX)?

Yn anffodus, nid ydym yn derbyn cardiau AMEX . Defnyddiwch gerdyn debyd neu gredyd arall i dalu am eich tanysgrifiad, os gwelwch yn dda.

A fydd gwastraff gardd ychwanegol yn cael ei gasglu os bydd yn cael ei adael wrth ymyl y bin? Na fydd, dim ond gwastraff gardd sydd yn y biniau fydd yn cael ei gasglu.
Beth fydd yn digwydd os byddaf yn symud tŷ yn ystod y cyfnod tanysgrifio? Os byddwch yn symud i gyfeiriad arall yn Sir Conwy, gallwch fynd â’ch tanysgrifiad gyda chi os byddwch yn rhoi gwybod i ni. Os byddwch yn symud allan o Sir Conwy bydd y tanysgrifiad yn aros gyda’r eiddo.
Beth os oes angen casgliad â chymorth arnaf?

Os nad oes gennych rywun i’ch helpu, gallwch ofyn am gasgliad â chymorth os ydych yn cael trafferth symud eich bin at ymyl y palmant ar y diwrnod casglu. Mae ein rhestr casgliadau â chymorth yn un wahanol i restr y Cyngor, felly ffoniwch ni ar 01492 555898 os oes angen casgliad â chymorth arnoch ar gyfer eich bin(iau) brown.

Does gen i ddim lle ar gyfer bin gwastraff gardd Bydd gan y rhan fwyaf o gartrefi le ar gyfer bin gwastraff gardd, sef y ffordd hawsaf i ailgylchu. Os nad yw eich eiddo yn addas ar gyfer bin, ffoniwch ni ar 01492 555898.

Sut rydych chi’n gwybod fy mod wedi talu am y gwasanaeth?

Os ydych yn adnewyddu eich tanysgrifiad, byddwn yn anfon sticer taliad atoch yn y post ar gyfer pob bin rydych wedi talu tanysgrifiad ar ei gyfer. A fyddech cystal â rhoi’r sticer yn sownd yn y bin ar ôl i chi ei dderbyn. Os ydych yn gwsmer newydd, bydd y sticeri eisoes yn sownd yn y bin(iau) pan fyddwn yn eu danfon atoch.

Beth os na fyddaf yn derbyn y sticer?

Y Post Brenhinol fydd yn dosbarthu sticeri a dylech eu derbyn cyn pen 14 diwrnod gwaith ar ôl i chi gyflwyno eich archeb.Os na fyddwch wedi derbyn y sticeri ar ôl 14 diwrnod gwaith, cysylltwch â’n swyddfa ar 01492 555 898.

Pam mae fy nghyfeiriad ar y sticer?

Rydym wedi rhoi cyfeiriad yr eiddo sydd wedi tanysgrifio ar y sticer er mwyn helpu i atal twyll, fel dwyn sticeri. Y cyfeiriad yn unig sy'n ymddangos ar sticer y bin ac nid enw'r cwsmer. Mae hyn yn sicrhau nad ydym yn datgelu pwy yw'r cwsmer.

A allaf gael sticer newydd?

Gellir archebu sticeri newydd drwy ffonio ein swyddfa ar 01492 555 898. Mae’n bosibl y codir tâl am sticeri newydd i dalu am y costau danfon.

A allaf symud y sticer ar ôl iddo gael ei roi’n sownd yn y bin?

Frequently Asked Questions

My bin hasn’t been emptied. Why not?

If you have paid your annual subscription and have a payment sticker displayed on your bin and it has not been emptied, please report it here. A member of staff will then contact you regarding your collection. If you have not yet signed up for garden waste collections for the current annual subscription period, you can do this here.

Is this a one-off payment?  No, you will need to pay each year for your collection service. There will be a charge for each bin collected.

Why is the price of the service increasing in April 2025?

The cost of the garden waste collection service will increase this year by £2, from £40 to £42. This is due to inflation and the increased operating costs to provide the service. The increase will only apply to first bin ordered. The cost for additional bins will remain the same at £20 each.

Will the subscription fee reduce if I sign up later in the year? No, the fee will be the same no matter when you sign up.
Can I pay for a one-off collection? No, we are only offering an annual subscription. You can start your subscription at any time but you will pay for the full year.

Do you accept American Express (AMEX) cards?

No, unfortunately we don’t accept AMEX cards. Please use another debit or credit card to pay for your subscription.
Can I line my bin to keep it clean or put bags of garden waste in the bin? No, garden waste must be loose in the bin. Please do not place any bags in the bin.
Will extra garden waste be collected if left out beside the bin? No, only garden waste contained in bins will be collected.
What happens if I move to a new house during my subscription? If you move to another address in Conwy County, you can move your subscription with you if you let us know. If you move out of Conwy County, the subscription will stay with the property.
What if I need an assisted collection?

If you don’t have anyone to help you, you can ask for an assisted collection if you have difficulty moving your bin to the kerbside on collection day. Our assisted lift list is separate from the councils so please contact us on 01492 555898 if you require an assisted lift for your brown bin(s).

I don’t have space for a garden waste bin Most households will have space for a garden waste bin, which is the easiest way to recycle. If your property isn’t suitable for a bin, please contact us on 01492 555898.
How can you tell I have paid for a service?

If you are renewing your subscription we will post you out a payment sticker for each of the bins you have paid a subscription for. Please attach the sticker to the bin when you receive it.  If you are a new customer, your new bin(s) will be delivered to you with the payment sticker attached.

What if my sticker does not arrive?

Stickers are being delivered by Royal Mail and should be with you within 14 working days of placing your order. If your sticker does not arrive after 14 working days, please contact our office on 01492 555 898.

Why is my address on my sticker?

We added the subscribed premises address to the sticker to help reduce fraud, such as sticker theft. Only the address appears on the bin sticker and not the customer’s name. This ensures the identity of the customer is not disclosed.

Can I get a replacement sticker?

Replacement stickers can be ordered by contacting our office on 01492 555 898. There may be a charge for replacement stickers issued to cover delivery costs.

Can I move my sticker after I have stuck it to my bin?

I would like another bin; do I have to pay for delivery? Bin deliveries are free on your first order, but there is a £20 delivery charge for any bins ordered at a later date.

Collections will not be made if the bin or reusable sack is too heavy, overfilled or contains bags; the lid of the brown bin must always be closed.  A ‘Sorry Tag’ will be attached to any heavy or overfilled brown bins or reusable sacks.  Bryson Recycling reserve the right to determine whether a bin or reusable sack is too heavy, overfilled or contains bags and will not return to collect the bin (or sack) until the next scheduled collection date.

22. Any garden waste jammed in a wheeled bin that does not naturally fall out following the normal mechanical emptying process on the waste collection vehicles will not be taken. In these cases, householders will have to loosen the materials themselves ready for the next scheduled collection.

23. Any garden waste which is frozen in a wheeled bin that does not naturally fall out following the normal mechanical emptying process on the waste collection vehicles will not be taken. In these cases, householders will have to allow time for the materials to thaw ready for the next scheduled collection.

24. Brown bins or reusable sacks will not be collected if they contain any incorrect items as outlined in our Garden Waste Acceptance Criteria.  A ‘Sorry Tag’ will be attached to any brown bins containing any incorrect items. Bryson Recycling reserve the right to determine whether a bin or reusable sack contains any incorrect items and will not return to collect the bin (or sack) until the next scheduled collection date.

25. It is the householder's responsibility to rectify any issues identified on the Sorry Tag and a further collection will not be made until the next scheduled collection date.  Bryson Recycling reserve the right to issue a ‘Sorry Tag’ and our decision will be final and we will not return to inspect, or collect the bin until the next scheduled collection date.

26. If the Customer’s brown bin, or reusable sack becomes damaged Bryson Recycling will repair or replace it, free of charge, as soon as is reasonably practical, except in circumstances where the brown garden waste bin is damaged through neglect or misuse, in which case the cost of repair or replacement shall be charged to the Customer at £20.00 per bin or £10.00 per sack.

27. If the Customer moves to a new house within Conwy County the subscription can be transferred to their new address. Please contact Bryson Recycling to confirm the details via email (gardenwaste@brysonrecycling.org).  It is the Customer’s responsibility to move their brown bin (or reusable sacks) to their new property.  If the Customer moves out of Conwy County, then the brown bin (or reusable sacks) and the remaining annual subscription will remain with the property.

28. Customers will be responsible for the brown bin (or reusable sacks) and Customers should make efforts to clearly identify their brown bin (or reusable sacks) as belonging to their property as Bryson Recycling will accept no liability for lost or stolen bins.

29. The annual subscription can be cancelled at any time; however, refunds will only be issued in accordance with our Refund Policy.  Bryson Recycling will not remove any bins from a property in any instances where a Customer chooses not to re-subscribe to the service, cancels the service, or reduces the number of bins to which they have previously subscribed. An email address will be required when subscribing to the service in order to allow Bryson Recycling to provide essential information about the collection service.

30. Bryson Recycling will process any personal data in accordance with their Privacy Notice which you can read here.

31. These terms and conditions in relation to the service do not affect your statutory rights.

Refund Policy

You have the right to cancel your subscription and obtain a full refund within 14 working days of placing your order.  There will be no refunds after the 14-day cooling-off period has expired.

Any cancellation following the 14 day cooling-off period will be subject to the conditions outlined in section 29 of the ‘Terms and Conditions for the Fortnightly Garden Waste Collection Service’ and there are no refunds (whole or partial) for the cancellation of the service partway through the year.

If there is evidence of misuse of the Service, or the brown garden waste bin by the Customer as per sections 21 -23 of the ‘Terms and Conditions for the Fortnightly Garden Waste Collection Service’, then the Service may be cancelled. There will be no refund (whole or partial) in these circumstances.

Recycling Rewards

Our ‘Recycling Rewards’ campaign is a unique approach to encourage recycling and let us give something back to the local communities where we deliver our services.

We currently run 3 Recycling Rewards campaigns:

1. Recycling Rewards – Kerbside Collections, Northern Ireland

We run our campaign in Northern Ireland in partnership with three local companies Cherry Pipes, Encirc and Huhtamaki, who transform the recycling that we collect from you into new products. For every tonne of paper, plastic and glass recycled through our kerbside service £1 is donated to a local charity.

2. Recycling Rewards – Garden Waste, Wales

We donate £1 to local charities for every tonne of garden waste we collect through our service that operates in the Conwy County Borough Council area.

3. Recycling Rewards – Recycling Centres, Wales

We donate £1 to local charities for every tonne recycled at our five Recycling Centres, which we run on behalf of Conwy County Borough Council and Denbighshire County Council.

Cash for Cans

Cash for cans is an aluminium can recycling scheme run by Bryson Recycling and is an ideal way to raise money.

Watch to learn how it all started...

It is a really simple and easy thing that can be done individually or in a group. All you have to do is:

  • Collect your cans – you’ll find them anywhere and everywhere
  • Sort your cans – use a magnet to check if they are aluminium or steel (aluminium is not magnetic)
  • Store your cans – we recommend crushing them
  • Recycle your cans – bring them along to Bryson Recycling, Belfast Road, Central Park, Mallusk, BT36 4FS. All deliveries should be made between 9am and 12pm. Please note: there may be a delay in prcessing cans between 10am and 10.30am. Cans will only be accepted loose (not baled).
  • Collect your money – we will pay for the cans you collect, current prices are listed below.

Today, more than 70% of drinks cans are made from aluminium. The majority of cans are clearly labelled with the ALU symbol, if you can’t see one look for the shiny base or use a magnet as aluminium isn’t magnetic.

We accept cans from:

  • schools
  • businesses
  • community groups
  • youth groups
  • charities
  • individuals
  • other organisations

It is important that your cans are clean and dry as we will have to deduct what we pay for excess steel, moisture or rubbish as it takes time for us to go through and sort them all. We are unable to return bags that cans are delivered in.

Where does my Recycling go?

We focus on collecting high-quality materials that can be recycled locally.

During 2022-23 we recycled 52,200 tonnes of materials. The diagram below shows where the materials from each of our services goes to for recycling.

Graphic showing where recyclables collected in NI, Wales and Donegal go to for recycling.

All the recyclables we process are transported to legitimate and regulated companies for recycling. No recycling is dumped, burned or ends up in the ocean.

Across all our services, we commit to recycling materials as close to home as possible.

By collecting materials separately for recycling we can maintain their quality and recycle them locally. You can read more about how to Recycle the Right Way here.

Why Recycle?

Recycling is easy to do and really can make a difference.

Recycling conserves resources

When we recycle, materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources which will help to protect natural habitats for the future.

Recycling saves energy

Using recycled materials in the manufacturing process uses considerably less energy than that required for producing new products from raw materials.

Recycling helps protect the environment

Recycling reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials all of which create air and water pollution.

As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change.

Recycling reduces landfill

When we recycle, recyclable materials are reprocessed into new products, and as a result the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites decreases which reduces emissions of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.
